The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program is for students who want to become a registered nurse. Through rigorous classes, practice in our simulation labs, and intensive clinical experiences, you'll be prepared to be a nurse generalist with knowledge and skills to practice in acute and community settings.

Upon graduation, you will be eligible to take the national licensure exam (NCLEX-RN) required for practice as a professional registered nurse.

Choose Your Path to a BSN

Traditional Track
The Traditional Track is designed for students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree in nursing. Students complete prerequisite coursework before beginning the nursing major.

Availability: Dahlonega, Gainesville, Cumming, Blue Ridge (In-Person)

Application deadlines:

Fall semester – January 15

Spring semester – August 15

Application Requirements:

Minimum GPA of 3.0

HESI A2 Entrance ExamEntrance exam (HESI) information:

Minimum 75% cumulative score

Minimum 66% in each subsection

Sections include Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Math, and Anatomy & Physiology

Information on registering for the HESI exam is available through the �鶹��Ʒ��߲�� Testing Center.

At least 35 completed credit hours

12 credit hours of required science

6 credit hours of English

3 credit hours of MATH 1111 or higher

Information sessions: are offered on the third Wednesday each month from noon - 12:45 p.m.
Admission Requirements

Applicants must complete all remaining core and program requirements prior to the start of the BSN program.

Students are required to have a grade of “C” or higher in all core curriculum and nursing prerequisites.

Steps to Apply for BSN

1. Steps to Apply for University Admissions

Apply for admission to the University of North Georgia using . Both Georgia and out-of-state residents create an account with GA Futures to apply. If you cannot apply online, download a paper application and submit to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. All applicants, online and paper, will pay a non-refundable application fee.

On the admission application, you will need to select Interdisciplinary Studies - Nursing BS for your intended major.

Once accepted to the University, you must apply for admission to the nursing program once are fulfilled. You will find the BSN application in your .

Register for the HESI A2 exam at one of the �鶹��Ʒ��߲�� Testing Centers or at a Prometric Testing
Center using 201234 as �鶹��Ʒ��߲��’s ID number. The exam must be taken within twelve months
prior to the application deadline and may only be taken twice per calendar year. There
must be six or more weeks between exam dates.

Score must meet the scores listed in the requirements section above.

Accelerated Track
The Accelerated Track is designed for students who already hold a bachelor’s or graduate degree in a non-nursing field. The program can be completed in four consecutive semesters (15 months).

Availability: Gainesville (Courses are delivered in a hybrid format)

Transferring into the BSN Program from Outside �鶹��Ʒ��߲��
Transfer students must apply to the university and be unconditionally accepted, prior to applying to the BSN program. �鶹��Ʒ��߲�� must receive your completed application for admission and all supporting documents prior to the deadline.

All transfer students are required to attend a transfer student orientation after acceptance.

Students transferring to �鶹��Ʒ��߲�� who are considered Core Complete from another USG institution must still complete the following prerequisite coursework for admission to the BSN Nursing Program:

Lab Science Sequence (one required): CHEM 1151K & 1152K; CHEM 1211K & 1212K; BIOL 1101K & 1102K; BIOL 1107K & 1108K; PHYS 1111K & 1112K; or PHYS 2211K & 2212K

BIOL 2260K – Microbiology

BIOL 2251K & 2252K – Anatomy and Physiology I & II

MATH 1111, 1113, 1450, or 1501

MATH 1401 – Statistics

PSYC 1101, SOCI 1101, or PSYC 2103
