Phi Kappa Phi chapter honored as Circle of Excellence Silver Chapter
The — the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines — has recognized the University of North Georgia (Â鶹¾«Æ·ÔÚÏß²¥·Å) chapter as a Circle of Excellence Silver Chapter for 2020-21. This is the second in time in three years Â鶹¾«Æ·ÔÚÏß²¥·Å has been honored.
The award is given to chapters that exceed expectations in operations and demonstrate sustainability and vitality as a chapter of Phi Kappa Phi. It is given to chapters that scored a 90-94 out of 100 on a criteria scale that evaluates chapter health indicators.
"This recognition is particularly meaningful for us because of the close alignment with our university values: excellence, student focus, integrity, engagement, and service," said Charlotte Wade, president of Â鶹¾«Æ·ÔÚÏß²¥·Å's chapter.
To be invited to join Phi Kappa Phi, juniors must be in the top 7.5% of their class, while seniors and graduate students must be in the top 10%.
Wade is director of compliance oversight at Â鶹¾«Æ·ÔÚÏß²¥·Å.
The program recognized 67 chapters this year, including 26 with the Silver distinction. Phi Kappa Phi has chapters on more than 325 campuses in the United States and the Philippines.
Micro-budget film lab announces first features
Â鶹¾«Æ·ÔÚÏß²¥·Å has announced the projects selected for the inaugural cohort of its Micro-Budget Narrative Feature Lab, a new initiative supporting independent filmmakers developing feature-length films in Georgia.
Author will speak at Hoag Lecture Series

High school students have a chance to learn more about Â鶹¾«Æ·ÔÚÏß²¥·Å's campuses from current students, faculty and staff at Nighthawk Preview events throughout the month of March.
Students help design logo for nonprofit
Visual arts students at Â鶹¾«Æ·ÔÚÏß²¥·Å had the opportunity to help create a new logo for the Beyond Dementia Coalition, a nonprofit organization that is based in Gainesville, Georgia.
