Overview

Dr. Ronnie Grant came to the University of North Georgia after completing a PhD in International Relations (International Law/International Political Economy) at Florida International University in Miami, FL. His doctoral dissertation applied insights from Self-Determination Theory (SDT), the motivational theory from the field of psychology, to explain backlash to law and public policy in Latin American contexts.

Prior to his doctoral studies, he completed a JD at the University of Puerto Rico, an MBA in Global Management at the Thunderbird School of Global Management (Arizona State University), and a BA in Economics and Spanish at Brigham Young University.

His professional and teaching interests are varied and include Constitutional Law, Comparative Law, International Investment Law, International Political Economy, and Latin America Area Studies.

When outside of the classroom, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing and coaching baseball, hiking and biking, as well as other outdoor activities.
