B.A. Exit Portfolio Review

All students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art (B.A.) are required to submit a B.A. Exit Portfolio during their final semester to graduate. This portfolio serves as a performance-based assessment, evaluating each student’s overall mastery, competence, and preparedness for graduation.

Note: Students pursuing the BSEd in Art Education or minoring in Visual Arts are exempt from the B.A. Exit Portfolio Review requirement.

The portfolios should showcase the skills and abilities developed throughout the program. It also functions as an image archive for reflection and comparison. The , which accredits 麻豆精品在线播放’s Visual Arts programs, recommends a portfolio review as part of degree completion.

The BA Exit Portfolio Review is evaluated on a Pass/Fail basis. Students will be notified of their results via 麻豆精品在线播放 email within two weeks of the submission deadline.

When do I submit my B.A. Review portfolio?

Beginning Fall 2025, all Studio Art (B.A.) students will no longer need to register for ART 4550 B.A. Senior Seminar. Instead, all B.A. art students must submit their B.A. Exit Portfolios by the deadlines. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure on-time submission.

Submission Deadlines 

  • Fall semester – October 31 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Spring semester – March 31 at 11:59 p.m.

Instructions to Prepare & Submit your B.A. Portfolio

Your website and PDF portfolio must include the following examples of your most representative work. Your single PDF file (11x17-inches, 72 dpi, under 5 GB) must include the following:  

  1. Cover
    • Your full name, degree sought, and Area of Concentration (e.g. Jane Doe, Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art, Concentration - Ceramics)
  2. Three (3) images
    • Artwork from your upper-level studio courses
    • Each image must be of high-resolution kept in one slide, include the following caption:
      • Title (e.g., Self-Portrait Exercise)
      • Materials Used (e.g. Conté crayon on paper)
      • Dimensions (H x W for 2D projects, H x W x D for 3D projects)
      • Course title and number (e.g. ART 4810 Advanced Digital Photography)
      • Semester Created (e.g. Spring 2025)
  3. Reflection page:
    • a 150-word personal reflection summarizing your academic journey, key experiences and professional goals.
  4. Update your website by including your final projects.

    2. Submitted portfolios are evaluated by the Visual Arts faculty using the B.A. Exit Portfolio Review Rubric (PDF).

Registration and Submission

  1. Create the B.A. Exit Portfolio PDF file
  2. Update your personal website

Failure to complete this process by the deadline will result in deferral to the following semester.

Pass/Fail Status

  • Pass: the student has successfully completed the exit requirement
  • Fail: Graduation may be delayed. Feedback will be provided, and a revised portfolio must be submitted the following semester with new work.
