The Dean of Students Office is here to support you outside the classroom. We help students navigate unexpected challenges, connect with resources, and ensure your voice is heard in situations that affect your academic or personal well-being.
If life throws a curveball, we’re a good place to start.

What We Can Do
Support you when life gets hard. Illness, loss, emergencies—we’re here to help you figure out your next steps.
- Communicate with your professors. If your absence qualifies, we’ll notify them of your situation (but they still control the syllabus).
- Guide you through university processes. Hardship Withdrawals, Flight Support, student conduct—we know the ropes and we’ll help you navigate.
- Connect you with campus and community resources. Food insecurity? Housing crisis? Mental health concerns? We’ll point you to help.
- Listen without judgment. Student’s First. Always. We are here to support.
What We Cannot Do
- Force your professor to excuse an absence or extend a deadline. We verify; they decide. Every class has its own rules.
- Accept vague or incomplete documentation. “I was sick” without a doctor’s note doesn’t cut it. We need something official.
- We can’t help with your parking tickets, or replace your Nighthawks Card. We can direct you to the right office, but those aren’t in our wheelhouse.
- Guarantee outcomes. We advocate and assist, however not everything is inside our control.
